Not your regular fashion inspiration! Idris Elba rocks a Rupert Bear-style outfit at GQ Men of the Year awards

He's used to topping the best-dressed lists.
And now childhood favourite, Rupert Bear, can add Luther star Idris Elba to his list of fashion admirers.
Arriving for GQ's Men of the Year awards held on Wednesday night at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, Idris wore a fetching grey and red checked blazer, with red trousers and a red tie to match.

Whilst it might not have been the look he was going for, Idris' attire was characteristic of the much-loved cartoon bear. 
He finished the look with a pair of white, grey and black brogues, although he declined to add Rupert's trademark scarf.
The 40-year-old actor was joined by a host of international stars for the award ceremony, housed in the renowned museum showcasing French art by Monet, Renoir and Seurat.
Denzel Washington had jetted in from across the Atlantic and looked equally smart in black suit, white shirt and black tie.

 

He happily posed for pictures next to French sporting star, Teddy Riner, who recently won gold at London's 2012 Olympic games in the men's heavyweight judo.
The Flight actor was somewhat dwarfed by Teddy - nicknamed 'Big Ted' - who stands at a statuesque 6'8".
Also attending was French writer and literary critic Frederic Begbeider.

He was photographed alongside the beautiful Charlotte Le Bon, a French-Canadian actress and television presenter.
Also joining Charlotte on the black carpet was French actor Fabrice Luchini, who she recently starred alongside in Astérix and Obélix: God save Britannia. 
The Men of the Year awards set to honour male contributions to a variety of subjects covering music, politics, acting, fashion and sport.
