And Sally Field showed off her regained slender figure in a cornflower blue satin shift on Monday night.
The 66-year-old actress looked stunning in the knee-length and cap-sleeved fitted dress as she attended the 2012 New York Film Critics Circle Awards at Crimson.
Last November, the actress spoke of how hard it was to gain 25lbs to portray Mary Todd Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's film.
'It was hard, it was very hard,' she revealed to Jay Leno on his late night talk show.
At first Sally tried to pack on the pounds the healthy way.
'I tried to do it healthy, which I understand there isn't any way to do it healthy,' she said.
And like most woman know, the actress said it was extremely difficult to regain her trim figure after filming wrapped.
'It took me about six months to gain it, and about a year to lose it. I began to work out like a mad fiend,' she explained.
For both her superb acting skills and physical transformation efforts, Field has subsequently been nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes next weekend.
Meanwhile, another actor who has made an extreme physical transformation for a film role also attended Monday's New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
The 43-year-old Magic Mike star, who is still filming the drama, arrived at the event solo and without his wife Camila Alves, who was most likely taking care of their newborn son Livingston.
Meanwhile, Rachel Weisz looked elegant in an all black satin which featured red embroidery.
The actress accentuated the ensemble with some red satin pumps and scarlet lipstick.
Zero Dark Thirty screenwriter Mark Boal and filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow also attended the event held at the popular New York venue.
