Fingers crossed! Jessica Alba hopes for a hit to revive her career as she premieres A.C.O.D at Sundance

Jessica Alba's movie career has been in the doldrums over the past couple of years, mainly - it has to be said - because she's been concentrating on having and rearing a family.
But with Sin City and Machete sequels in the works, Alba could be well justified in hoping for a renaissance... but she's not there yet.
And the actress showed a sense of humour about what could be described as her comeback when she crossed her fingers ahead of the premiere of her new film, A.C.O.D, at Sundance.

Looking chic in cream and black with her hair swept up, Alba allowed herself an ornate gold ring as the only concession to premiere excess.
Her nails were painted a fashionable blue.
A.C.O.D, which stands for adult children of divorce,
tells the story of a man still caught in the crossfire of his parents 15 year old divorce.
He discovers he was unknowingly part of a study on divorced children and is enlisted in a follow-up years later, which wreaks new havoc on his family.

Ladylike: Alba's look signalled her serious intent

Earlier in the day, he actress tackled the cold in Park City, Utah in a long double-breasted black coat, chic and flattering wedge trainers and a similarly obsidian scarf.
The 31-year-old dramatically brightened the look up with bright red-pink lipstick, which worked a treat against the black ensemble.
Her long hair hung around her shoulders in a slight wave.

Then following the awards, the mum got ready for a night of partying heading to the Warner Bros. and InStyle Golden Globe Awards After Party in a checkered print Louis Vuitton dress.
The black and white dress is from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection, but Jessica made sure to make it her own teaming the look with black Casadei Pointed Toe Blade Pumps and gave it a splash of colour with bright orange lips.

Jessica recently revealed her number one fashion tip to InStyle - never rely on the clothes alone.
'Whether you shop at H&M, Topshop, Target, Forever 21, or buy high-end, if the piece doesn’t fit, it will be halfway there,' she said.

'My style is more adventurous since I became a mum. In the past, I was into my uniform of leggings and a sweater. Now I’m willing to try bold prints, bright colors, and different cuts.'
