Lightening up for spring: Nikki Reed lops her long locks into shorter and edgier style

When it comes to going for a new haircut, making a bold change can be a huge risk.
Nikki Reed showed no signs of regret, though, when leaving the Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood on Friday.
The Twilight star has sported long, wavy locks parted in the centre for years, but she must have decided it was time for something new.

Fresh new 'do! Actress Nikki Reed left a West Hollywood salon with her mother on Friday and sported a brand new shoulder-length hairdo

Emerging from the salon with her mother, Cheryl Houston, trailing alongside her, the 24-year-old had a spring in her step, a smile on her face and a brand new hairstyle.
Just hitting her shoulders, her chocolate brown locks waved away from her face.
With a bit of her hair tucked behind her ear and the remaining flowing free in a deep side part, the actress’ new ‘do looked decidedly more mature and unique than her casual California beach waves.

Still keeping her youthful edge, however, Nikki wore a white T-shirt that was sheer enough to show her black bra through it.
She threw an oversized long sweater that was knit with a navy and turquoise Aztec pattern over the top.
Her super slender legs were on display in a pair of skin-tight, grey pegged jeans.
Battered brown ankle boots boosted the actress’ height to be on par with her mother, who was wearing a sporty outfit of a tank top with a sheer blue overlay, skinny jeans and houndstooth-printed loafers.

Both women looked refreshed as they left the salon, fully enjoying their time together after Nikki had been promoting her new film, Snap.
Set in Los Angeles’ underground dub step scene, the thriller is the actress’ first film since the end of The Twilight Saga franchise.
