She's gone grey! Blonde Kirsten Dunst sports silver streaks in her hair for new avant-garde photo shoot

Posted on 12:34 AM by dvdsvdsdv

As Kirsten Dunst prepped for her thought-provoking shoot, she exclaimed: 'Let's make this controversial. Let's sell magazines!'
And the 30-year-old actress certainly succeeded in making a statement with her latest photo shoot for Bullett Magazine.
Transforming her blonde locks into silver strands was only the beginning of the digitalized, avant-garde series that wouldn't have been made possible without production technology assistance.

The first contended image shows the On The Road star with a depressed look in her eyes as she gazes at the camera.
Her baby blues are accentuated with smokey bronzed eye shadow as the rest of her face remains almost bare.
The actress' coloured hair is swept to the side, revealing her other ear decorated with a dragon-shaped cuff as her arms are concealed with grey paint until a few inches below her wrists.

She's pictured in a designer black leather jacket with fringed sleeves and orange accents, in addition to a chain necklace that flaps over a mirror which covers the remainder of her body.
With her right arm in front, she makes a symbol that many wouldn't recognize as much more than an accident, but her artistic ways would prove otherwise, as a following image captures a gang sign.
In that picture, Kirsten's body is the same from the neck up as she spells the word 'blood' with her polished twisted fingers.

Another shot captures her flawless face in black and white tones as her hair and body are concealed by a striped optical illusion.
Going for an even deeper shot, Kirsten remains in the shadow colours as she wears textured black pants paired with a crisp white blouse, black sweater and a chunky chain necklace.
She gazes towards the ceiling holding onto a rod behind her neck.

The platform she stands on features blue accents and her sky-high heels are brightened up for the shot.
Another image brings even more colour into the scenery, creating a landscape reminiscent of the  ocean.
In the photograph, the pale skinned star wears a flowing grey and black gown, contrasting with the background.

Appearing to be blowing in the wind, she bends backwards as her right arm follows her.
The Virgin Suicides star ditches her grey hair and lets her blonde locks down as she closes her eyes.
With her hands up in the air, she poses in an elegant, printed gown which flows around her from the waist down.

And for her final shot, she remains with her eyes closed, her chin towards the sky as she sit on a white cube.
In the modern, mirror-filled room, she wears the same chunky heels as before, showing off her smooth, sculpted legs in a futuristic mini dress.
In front of Kirsten is a bag of sand that has been broken, spilling out as blue pebbles pour on the floor.

In an interview with the magazine, Kristen discusses kissing Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire when she was just 11-years-old.
'Everyone at the time was like, "You’re so lucky you kissed Brad Pitt," but I thought it was disgusting. I was a late bloomer,' she said.
And the same distaste was apparent with her response on being famous: 'People would stop to take my picture like I was Britney Spears or something. I hated the attention.'
Remarking about people's perception of her as a movie star, she added: 'To so many people, I’m still "that girl from Spider-Man."'
Kirsten is currently working on forthcoming films The Two Faces of January and Cities.

After getting a quick lift, the Extra! host took a break break from filming her entertainment programme.
Keeping her cell phone at hand to stay accessible, Maria took a quick stroll by herself.
Though her hair was neatly styled in loose curls and she had on a full face of makeup, the 34-year-old dressed down for the lovely spring day.

As she waved her left hand in the air, it was apparent that the Boston native was still rocking the same questionable ring that she was seen with before.
Maria's been dating her producer boyfriend for nearly fifteen years, so it would make sense for the twosome to take their relationship to the next level.
She first revealed the ring last week, as she was snapped blatantly positioning her fingers in such a way as to highlight the sparkling diamonds on her polished fingers.
The brunette beauty is currently working on a new film project with Keven titled Adventures of Serial Buddies.
And the former Dancing With The Stars contestant will start filming a reality show about her life next month for the OXYGEN network.
Maria recently revealed that the question of marriage will be a focus of the show.
'The whole marriage-and-kids topic is definitely a big part of the show because Keven and I will have been together 15 years this April, and we’re not married and we don’t have kids,' she told Boston Magazine.

'My parents are definitely pressuring for both,' she added.
The star said the show will also offer a glimpse of what goes on in her professional life.
'The cameras will definitely be at Extra! tapings to take a look behind the scenes,' Maria stated. 'That’s obviously super interesting, too.'

'You cry until then you can't cry, and then you cry some more': Marie Osmond opens up about the pain of losing her son to suicide in new book

Posted on 6:57 PM by dvdsvdsdv

Marie Osmond reflects on the pain of losing her son Michael to suicide three years ago.
'You cry until then you can't cry, and then you cry some more,' the 53-year-old singer says in her new book The Key Is Love.
The singer describes how she coped with the devastating loss in the memoir, which she says was inspired by her mother Olive's advice.

'Some people don't talk about these things, but we do,' said Marie in an excerpt published in People magazine's latest issue. 'I think it's important. I'm healing every day.'

Candid: The 53-year-old describes in her book the moment she found out about her 18-year-old son's death as the 'worst thing' to have happened
In the new memoir, the mother-of-seven describes the moment she received the news of her 18-year-old son's passing as the 'worst thing.'

'My sweet son left me, his family, and friends by jumping from the balcony of his eighth floor college apartment in Los Angeles,' she says of that fateful day in February, 2010.

'Even as I write this I want to cry out, "Please, don't let this be true,"' adds the star.
Marie was staying in a hotel room at the Flamingo in Las Vegas with her daughter Rachael, 'exhausted from a non-stop week with shows,' she explains.

The singer was awoken at 1:30am by a cell phone call from guard in her neighbourhood.

'He said, "Someone is here from the coroner's office. They are coming to the Flamingo to see you,"' said Marie.

She says her 'heart dropped to the floor' as she told her daughter 'It has to be Michael.'

Rachael tried calling her brother's phone but there was no answer, so she kept redialing.

'She kept saying "Pick up, Michael. Be there,"' recalls Marie.

Then came the knock on the door that every parent dreads, informing Marie that her son had committed suicide earlier that evening.

'I thought someone had run a knife into my heart,' writes the singer.
'Lousy marriage': Marie adopted Michael with her second husband Brian Blosil, pictured in 2001, who she split from in 2007

Marie and her first husband Stephen Craig, whom she remarried in 2011, adopted Michael just a few days after his birth.

'Michael was an adventuresome child,' she recalls fondly. 'It was impossible for anyone in the family to stay upset or angry if he was around.'

When Michael was 13, a woman rang the family's doorbell and revealed herself as his birth mother.

'We all sat and talked for over an hour,' says Maria. 'Michael was intrigued and excited.'
But his biological mother disappeared after that, which Marie says 'seemed to confuse him at an age when he needed the most stability.'

The star is also candid about her son's prolonged battle with drug addiction, which started at the age of 12.

Marie blames herself and her own depression in her second marriage for his struggles, claiming that 'Michael sensed my hopelessness. It's too much pressure for a child to worry about his mother's happiness.'

Things looked up in 2009 when Michael enrolled at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

'Michael had made a promise that if I even suspected him of doing drugs I could kick him out the house,' she recalls. 'It was something we never had to contemplate because my son made good on his promise.'
It's my fault: The star blames her own unhappiness in her marriage for her son's struggle, claiming that he 'sensed' her hopelessness

The week her son passed away, a friend from his drug-fueled days paid him a visit. Michael agreed to to go out with them, but the night ended with Michael passed out under a highway overpass.

'He had no idea how he got there,' says Marie. 'He said he had not had any alcohol or taken any drugs on his own, but felt that one of the people in the car must have laced what he was drinking with something.'

Although Michael never told his mother about the incident, she says two days before he died she heard a change in his voice.

'It frightened me,' she says. 'He sounded weary and said that he felt like he had no friends.'

In retrospect, Marie says she realises her son was hiding how depressed he truly was.

She insisted that he come to Vegas to see her, but he didn't want to miss any classes.

Marie says she has replayed that final conversation 'thousands of times' in her mind.

'My one consolation is that I never end a conversation with my children without saying "I love,"' she says. 'It was the last thing I said to my son.'
Since his passing, Marie says 'not a day goes by that Michael isn't my first thought in the morning and my last before I fall asleep.'

The singer remarried her first husband Stephen Craig in May, 2011, and she says she felt Michael near her shoulder during the ceremony.

Second time around: Marie said she could 'feel' Michael's presence when she remarried her first husband Stephen Craig in May, 2011

'But it doesn't ever get better, I've come to accept that.'

Marie describes her son as a 'mallard,' because he looked a bit like a duck when he was a baby.

'Mallards look so serene, yet they have to paddle continuously to stay afloat,' she says. 'Give them a safe nest. Please, don't wait. Remember, depression doesn't wait until Monday.'

She also strutted along in the same black loafers she had been wearing for several days as well as the same simple pieces of gold jewellery.

Instead The Girl Interrupted star wore a more modest gold band on her wedding finger.
While there is no news that the couple have in fact already tied the knot, it appeared that Angelina had merely exchanged the jewellery for her official UN work duties.

According to USA Today, Angelina was in the African country acting as a representative for the UN's refugee agency.
Hague and the star met with survivors of rape and sexual violence, which is frequent in the country.
Their trip to central Africa was aimed at forcing the Group of Eight world powers to address the issue more seriously.
Hague said he would be making the issue his priority when he hosts the annual meeting of G8 foreign ministers next month in London.

'This visit is about hearing first hand from people who have endured rape and sexual violence during the conflict in the eastern DRC,' Angelina said.
'We want to learn the lessons that their experience holds for how the world can protect thousands of women, men and children at risk of rape in many other conflict zones.
'And we want to persuade governments around the world to give this issue the attention it deserves.
'Unless the world acts, we will always be reacting to atrocities, treating survivors rather than preventing rape in the first place.'
Angelina and Mr Hague are calling on the G8 to agree that rape and sexual violence constitute breaches of the Geneva Conventions governing warfare.
They also want a new international protocol on the documentation and investigation of the issue.

'More often than not the international community looks away, the perpetrators of these brutal crimes walk free and the cycle of injustice and conflict is repeated. We have to shatter this culture of impunity,' Hague said.
'It is time for real, meaningful action by the governments of the world to say that the use of rape as a weapon of war is unacceptable, to bring perpetrators to justice and to lift the stigma from survivors.
'This is my personal priority for the meeting of G8 foreign ministers.'
The campaign will also be taken to the UN Security Council in June and the UN General Assembly in September.
Discussions on solutions to the conflict with political leaders are also set to take place.

Nine secret crypts discovered hidden beneath Coventry's bombed cathedral

Posted on 1:20 AM by dvdsvdsdv

Nine secret crypts have been uncovered under the ruins of Coventry's bombed cathedral by restoration workers.
Two crypts had already been discovered in the former cemetery grounds of St Michael's Church when it was cleared to make way for the new cathedral building.
But a further nine ancient graves have been revealed after maintenance work began when a crack appeared in part of the 14th Century ruins in September 2011.

It is believed the crypts may date back to the 1350s and were used as burial places for Coventry's nobility. Some contained human bones.

Dr Jonathan Foyle, chief executive of the World Monuments Fund Britain, which is handling the work, described the find as significant.
He told the BBC the discovering was like finding a 'subterranean wonderland'.
Dr Foyle added he is hopeful that the crypts can be opened to the public after they have been cleared of rubble and checked for damp.

He said: 'It's where Coventry's medieval burial grounds were - and at that time it was the fourth greatest city in England in the 14th Century.
'These spaces would have been created to to provide a fitting burial for the many thousands of people who contributed to the rise of this city at its peak.'
Campaigners are fundraising to restore more of the cathedral after more than £350,000 was spent on repairs to the cathedral ruins in 2010.
The ruins were placed on the World Monuments Fund's Watch List, a catalogue of cultural heritage sites around the globe which are in danger, in October 2011 shortly after the crack appeared.

HOW ST MICHAEL'S CHURCH WAS BOMBED TO DESTRUCTION

Coventry Cathedral
St Michael's Church was largely constructed between the late 14th century and early 15th century.
The church was given cathedral status in 1918 but later almost entirely destroyed during the blitz on November 14,1940, by the German Luftwaffe.

Only the tower, spire, the outer wall and the bronze effigy and tomb of its first bishop, Huyshe Wolcott Yeatman-Biggs, survived the bombing blitz.
The spire rises to 295 ft and is the tallest structure in the city. It is also the third tallest cathedral spire in England, with only Salisbury and Norwich cathedrals rising higher.
The ruins of this older cathedral remain hallowed ground and are listed at Grade I.
The new St Michael's Cathedral was built alongside the ruins from a design by Basil Spence, whose plan was selected in a competition from over 200 entrants.
Spence (later knighted for this work) insisted that instead of re-building the old cathedral it should be kept in ruins as a garden of remembrance and that the new cathedral should be built alongside, the two buildings together effectively forming one church.
The use of Hollington sandstone for the new Coventry Cathedral provides an element of unity between the buildings.
The foundation stone of the new cathedral was laid by the Queen in 1956, and building was finished in 1962.

Parents' heartache as THREE of their five children are diagnosed with the life-threatening condition cystic fibrosis

Posted on 1:19 AM by dvdsvdsdv

A mother and father have spoken of their heartache after three of their five children were diagnosed with the life-threatening condition cystic fibrosis.

Dawn and David Robinson’s daughters Sophie, 15, Scarlett, four, and Spring, two, all suffer from the deadly condition cystic fibrosis.

Their lives are dominated by gruelling bouts of physiotherapy, regular cocktails of drugs and frequent hospital admissions - and all three may eventually need lung transplants.

Diagnosis: Sophie, Scarlett and Summer Robinson (pictured wearing the same outfits) all suffer from the life-threatening condition cystic fibrosis. Pictured with parents Dawn and David and siblings Declan and Spring

Mrs Robinson, 35, of Ipswich, Suffolk, said: ‘Unfortunately we carry a rare gene for cystic fibrosis despite no-one in our family having had the disease before. It was a real shock when Sophie was diagnosed when she was eight.

‘Scarlett was diagnosed at just four weeks and spent the first few weeks fighting for her life in intensive care in hospital while Spring was one-and-a-half when she was diagnosed.’

The mother-of-five added: ‘It is normally detected with heel prick tests and although Scarlett’s came back negative, we knew as parents that she had all the signs of cystic fibrosis.’
The couple have two other children unaffected by the condition - Summer, nine, and Declan, eight.
Last Christmas they bought a nebuliser - a device which turns liquid medication into droplets so that it can be inhaled - which the girls use twice daily.

Hope: The girls' parents are now trying to raise £10,000 to buy a physiotherapy vest to help their daughters breathe more easily

Now the girls’ parents are now trying to raise £10,000 to buy a physiotherapy vest to help their daughters breathe more easily.

Mr Robinson, a long distance lorry driver, said: ‘We want to get a physiotherapy vest. It vibrates the lungs to move the secretions around and help improve their breathing.’

The girls have regular clinic appointments, check-ups and courses of antibiotics given intravenously in hospital but may eventually need lung transplants.

Mrs Robinson said: ‘You have to get to the stage where you need new lungs before you can be put on the transplant list.

‘It’s when your lung function gets below a certain threshold.

WHAT IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS?

CF is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases and affects over 9,000 people in the UK.
It's caused by a faulty gene carried by around one in 25 of the population.
If two carriers have a child, the baby has a one in four chance of having cystic fibrosis.
It affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
Each week, five babies are born with CF and two young lives are lost to the disease.
However, improvements in treatments mean half of people with CF will live past 41-years-old.
‘We were told the other week at hospital they could live into their 30s to 40s but we are still only in our 30s and it’s absolutely awful to have to think about that possibility.

‘We try not to think about it and take every day as it comes and whatever is thrown at us.’

She said that each of her children deals with their condition differently.

Sophie, a pupil at Suffolk New Academy, has started talking to other CF sufferers online as she carries out more research into her illness.

‘Spring just takes it in her stride and gets on with it.

‘Scarlett finds it more difficult because she has been through so much with so many hospital stays already,’ she said.

The Robinsons are also keen to help other families facing a similar situation.

‘We would like any extra money we collect to go to another family that’s waiting for a nebuliser or other medical equipment,’ said Mr Robinson.

The father’s friend, Chris Catling is to have his hair cut off on Saturday in a bid to raise money for the Robinsons’ fund and has already raised more than £500.

The hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust to provide wigs for children suffering from hair loss.
