01:00 What an action packed first half. San Francisco paid the price for turnovers but Flacco was outstanding for the Ravens. His stats: 13 out of 20 passes made for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ravens are sitting pretty with a 15-point lead but this is far from over. San Francisco have moved the ball well in the first half but just haven't taken their chances.
Of course, the action never stops at the Super Bowl as Beyonce will make her way out for the half-time show.

0:00 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 21-6 San Francisco Akers kicks the 27-yard field goal to close the half. 49ers have had two trips to the endzone and have had to settle for two field goals.
0:21 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 21-3 San Francisco 49ers can't convert on 3rd and 2 as Kaepernick couldn't find a pass. Timeout with 3 seconds left and on come the field goal unit.
0:57 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 21-3 San Francisco Kaepernick finds Walker with a 28-yard pass! 49ers are in the redzone. Good response.
1:15 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 21-3 San Francisco 49ers get one last chance before half-time and penalty for roughing the passer on Baltimore gives them a first down at midfield.

San Francisco call a rushing play on third down but Gore comes up short.
Ravens call a timeout before the two-minute warning they and will have another chance to extend their lead after the punt.

 

Outstanding: Joe Flacco threw three touchdown passes in the first half

3:05 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 14-3 San Francisco RAVENS FAKE A FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT Tucker tries to run it on 4th and 9 but he comes up 1 yard short and 49ers get the ball at their 6-yard line on the TURNOVER.
What were Baltimore doing there? Even if they make it, this is surely not the time and place to call a play like that. A simple field goal from little over 30 yards would have put them two touchdowns ahead.
4:09 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 14-3 San Francisco Ravens pick up a first down at the San Francisco 28-yard line before Rice gets three plays in a row (2 rushes and 1 pass) for another first down in the 49ers redzone.
6:55 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 14-3 San Francisco KAEPERNICK INTERCEPTED! Kaepernick picked off by Rice before it all gets ugly with a bit of a brawl. Offsetting penalties on both sides and Baltimore will start their next drive on the 49ers 38-yard line.
7:10 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 14-3 San Francisco TOUCHDOWN RAVENS! Flacco finds Pitta in the endzone for six points on 2nd and goal after Rice came up short on first down. Extra point is good and the Ravens lead by 11.
8:03 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco  Flacco finds Dickson again inside the 10-yard line. Whitner then gets flagged for a face-mask and its 1st and goal at the 49ers 4-yard line.

10:25 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco  Ravens run it with Pierce three times in a row and they pick up a first down on their 37-yard line.
11:53 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco FUMBLE AND TURNOVER! Just when 49ers were looking good, James loses the ball and the Ravens recover it. They will start their next drive at the 25-yard line.

15:00 (2nd quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco A poor punt from Koch sails into the endzone for a touch-back and Kaepernick starts on the 20-yard line.
So far so good after one quarter for Baltimore. They scored a touchdown on their first drive and held San Francisco to a field goal when they threatened to level at 7-7. Ravens have a 4th down when the second quarter starts.
0:00 (1st quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco Flacco sacked on 3rd and 13 outside field goal range to end the first quarter. Good reply from the 49ers defence after a big play from Flacco to Boldin.
1:12 (1st quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco Rice runs for three yards on 1st down before an incomplete pass on 2nd down leaves the Ravens with a 3rd and 7. Flacco, running from danger, finds Boldin down the field for a 31-yard gain.
2:34 (1st quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco Flacco with a 9-yard pass to Pitta on first down and Rice, after being stopped on 2nd and 1, gets the 1st down on 3rd and 1.
3:54 (1st quarter) Baltimore 7-3 San Francisco Akers kicks off again for San Francisco and Jones runs it out of the endzone to the Baltimore 22-yard line where Flacco will start the next drive.

10:36 (1st quarter) TOUCHDOWN RAVENS! Baltimore 7-0 San Francisco Flacco overthrows Pitta in the endzone on 3rd and 9 but a flag for offside against San Francisco gives the Ravens another chance on 3rd and 4.
Flacco makes San Francisco pay with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Boldin and Tucker makes no mistake with the extra point. Great start for Baltimore!
12:00 (1st quarter) Baltimore 0-0 San Francisco Flacco with a deep pass to Smith from the 49ers 39-yard line and the Ravens are in the San Francisco redzone
13:05 (1st quarter) Baltimore 0-0 San Francisco 49ers go three-and-out on their first drive. They decided to go for a running play on 3rd and 15, very conservative. Jones fields and returns the punt to near midfield where Flacco will take over.
14:52 (1st quarter) Baltimore 0-0 San Francisco 20-yard pass from Kaepernick to Davis on the first play wiped out due to a flag for illegal formation.

23:18 The main talking points this week have been about two men at different stages of their career, the retiring Ray Lewis and Colin Kaepernick, a man who has only played half a season since he replaced Alex Smith as No 1 quarter-back.
Lewis has been accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, something which he has flatly denied, but he will be looking to end a brilliant career in the best possible way... with a Super Bowl ring.
On the other side, Kaepernick has given the San Francisco offence a new dimension since he came into the side. His most impressive game came in his first ever playoff match against Green Bay Packers when he passed for 263 yards and ran for an astonishing 181 yards in a crushing 45-31 win for San Francisco.

 

23:14 The teams enter the pitch in New Orleans. AFC champions Baltimore come out first before Jim Harbaugh's 49ers. Hard to tell which team has more fans in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
23:09 Baltimore stumbled into the post-season, but two excellent playoff wins on the road at Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos and Tom Brady’s New England Patriots earned them a place in the Super Bowl.

Baltimore lost to New England in the AFC Championship game last season but they made no mistake this time with a dominant 28-13 win.

San Francisco enter the Super Bowl having beaten Green Bay and Atlanta in the playoffs. The 49ers, much like Baltimore, lost in the NFC Championship game last season but they've made the extra step this time round.

23:00 Of course, you’re probably well aware that John and Jim Harbaugh will make history tonight as the first brothers to coach against each other in the Super Bowl.
They met on Thanksgiving day in 2011 and it was the older brother John who came out on top as the Ravens won 16-6.

Will he repeat that win over his younger brother tonight on the biggest stage of all?
